Car AC Blowing Warm in Florida? 5 Common Causes
When the temperature in Lake County is in the 90s, a weak car AC gets noticed fast. Here are the most common reasons it blows warm.
1. Low refrigerant from a leak
AC systems are sealed. If refrigerant is low, it leaked from a hose, seal, condenser or evaporator. Recharging without finding the leak is a short-term fix.
2. Condenser fan not running
If the AC is cold on the highway but warm at stoplights, the condenser isn't getting airflow at low speed. Look under the hood with the AC on: the fan should run.
3. Clogged condenser
Bugs, leaves and lovebug season debris can block the condenser in front of the radiator. Gently rinsing it can help.
4. Compressor or clutch trouble
A noise when the AC engages, or a clutch that doesn't engage at all, points to the compressor.
5. Blend door or controls
If one side blows cold and the other warm, or the temperature won't change, a blend door actuator may be stuck.
When to get it checked
If the easy checks don't help, have the system tested. See car AC repair in Fruitland Park.
Common questions
Is it safe to use a DIY recharge can?
Overcharging can damage the compressor, and it doesn't fix a leak. A pressure check first is safer.
